The Magic Disappearing Data

Pajamas Media is reporting another official government agency has removed the raw temperature data they collect from their web site. Instead, they are only posting the “corrected” temperature data from now on. Samples of the raw data and the “corrected” data are below for you to compare them.

It’s pretty obvious that any “global warming” we’re seeing is really caused by the “corrections” to the temperature data being spun in by the agencies responsible for maintaining these records. Without those “corrections,” the “warming” just looks like a bunch of variations in raw temperature data. Why do they correct this data? In general, they try to correct for changes in the area surrounding a measuring point, for instance. If a parking lot is built around a sensor site, they need to account for the increase in temperatures because of the additional asphalt, which absorbs and holds heat. Generally speaking, these sorts of corrections should favor lower temperatures, rather than higher temperatures, but as you can see from the charts, the corrections actually being made are driving the temperature up.

At any rate, why is it the raw data is being pulled from the web sites? Obviously to keep people from realizing that the data doesn’t support the global warming religion, and it’s easier to hide that than it is to deal with the facts, especially if you’re trying to push new government regulations and control that are unpopular, and will destroy the standard of living people have come to expect, as well as destroying any future expectations of increases in the standard of living for poorer, less developed, areas. For instance, India recently balked at Mrs. Clinton’s talk of new controls to “reduce global warming,” as Heritage reports. It’s hard to sell $20 a gallon gas unless the problem is drastic, and the problem just doesn’t look all that drastic on the raw temperature charts—hence the drive to hide them.

Effectively, by hiding the data, they’re trying to shut down new studies like this one, reported at CNS News, that show global temperature changes aren’t caused by human activity. And to keep people from drawing charts like this one, from the Pajamas Media story above.

Because, of course, it’s obvious the parabolic line fits the data better than the red increasing line just from glancing at the chart itself.
